NLS Law’s Neisha Shepard and Joplin Higgins OAM are set to bring their expertise to two major international conferences in 2025, highlighting some of the most critical issues in domestic and family violence law.
Their work will be featured at the Barcelona European Conference on Domestic Violence from 3–5 September 2025, where they will present two thought-provoking papers:
- Silent Coercion: The Lethal Intersection of Domestic Violence and Assisted Suicide
- Mitigating the Risk: Should Children Have Contact with Family Violence Perpetrators – Is There a Role for No Contact Orders?
Just weeks later, they will co-present at the 5th World Conference of Women’s Shelters (5WCWS) at Sydney ICC on 16 September 2025. Their paper, Mitigating the Risk Where There Is Family Violence – When and Should Children Have Contact with the Perpetrator of Family Violence in Their Family Unit, will explore complex child contact considerations in the context of family violence.
These international presentations underscore Neisha and Joplin’s dedication to advancing legal protections for victims and driving global discussions on reform and safety in family law and come off the back of their first publication together, Domestic and Family Violence in Australia.
