Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution. It is conducted by an independent third party, who assists the parties to try and reach agreement about their dispute. Mediators are specially trained to assist parties reach resolutions.
Mediations are more cost-effective and can be quicker than having a matter proceed to Court, particularly in the current climate where non-urgent matters are likely to face delay.
Mediation services are offering mediations by telephone; meaning that parties can participate in dispute resolution from their homes. Services are even offering mediations outside of business hours for those with children, who wish to participate once their children are in bed.
If agreements are reached at mediation, consent orders can be drafted and executed and can be filed with the Court without the need for an appearance (telephone or otherwise).
